Michigan School Readiness
amcab Early Childhood Education Component also provides a preschool program funded through the Michigan Department of Education called the Michigan School Readiness Program. The State of Michigan provides funding for this high-quality preschool program to serve four year old children who may be at risk of becoming educationally disadvantaged or who may have special needs. We serve MSRP children in Marquette, Gwinn, and West Marquette County.
There are 8 different risk factors that are looked at when determining eligibility for children in the Readiness Program.
Some of these risk factors include:
- Household Income
- Special needs
- Special family circumstances
Child must be at least 4 years old by December 1 of the year they apply.
Children enrolled in the Michigan School Readiness Program must have a minimum of two out of the 8 risk factors documented and at least 50% of the children placed must have the risk factor of low household income.
Services that are provided are:
- Parent Involvement
- Adult-Child Interaction
- Active Learning
- Comprehensive Developmental Screenings
- Nutritional Snacks
- Developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Kindergarten readiness and transition activities
